Every time I advocate for the inclusion of art (or any hobby) into life, someone or the other responds by saying “that’s a luxury the common man cannot afford”. These are people who spend their days hustling to be billionaires - as if that is not a luxury.
But the real reason we reject the arts is not this stated reason. It is something else. It has to do with why collectives don’t value free thinking individuals - the inevitable result of art.
